Neck pains are a leading complaint of clients today.

Aaahh, the neck. Such a complex, important part of our anatomy. The neck is underestimated tho. It withstands holding an up 11-pound skull on a daily basis! Not to mention battling the effects of postural imbalances we induce upon it. Whew! Yea I'd be wiped out.

I see it all the time in my practice. Clients experiencing neck pain. Some have slept wrong the night before and woke up to pain or have had chronic pain affecting them for a while. I take a great interest in neck therapy and the fact that I too have neck issues, the intrigue increases.
Daily repetitious acts can have a big impact on neck tension and restriction. 😣
Sitting at an office desk, looking down at your phone, or sleeping posture all can cause neck tension. With habitual, targeted therapy sessions, neck pain can noticeably decrease. Manual massage therapy is often paired with physical therapy to get the best results. Like any other part of our bodies, exercise and stretching are very beneficial for our muscle health. Neck muscles can and should be exercised as well. For most chronic pain, a more targeted session may be required to break down the build up of scar tissue. The same goes if there are triggerpoints (knots) present.
Scar tissue buildup is our bodies protective mechanism when we get injured. Injured fibers heal more sturdy and stronger, but also more restricted. When triggerpoints develop, it often causing localized and/or referred pain to other parts of the body. Tingling down arm? Check the neck! Shoulder pain? Check the neck! Even true with some low back issues. Remember, the spine is a column of connectiveness (not a word, but you get my drift.😉) Other musculature may or will need to be addressed as well. Keeping fascia and connective tissues loose and flexible with manual massage therapy will allow a more healthy moving neck, better sleep, and and overall heightened quality of well being.💆🏽
Having a team of people with you on your road to pain relief, is key! Sometimes you have to try different methods to figure out what's best for you, your body, and your life. Every great outcome requires some research.📚
Massage therapy, chiropractic care, physical therapy, acupuncture therapy, and personal fitness training all can highly improve your body's whole perception of movement. You'd be surprised what we are capable of! The human body is an amazing creation and we are all different.
So don't deter from finding what your body is most receptive to, especially when it comes to pain management.
Make that time and investment to feel better for the only body you'll ever have! ☺️💯
